This 88 page softback book charts the motorcycling career of Bert Houlding from 1903 until the late 1920s, showing over 140 black and white photographs mostly unseen before, including great shots from the Isle of Man TT, Orton Scar hill climb (run by the Westmorland MCC), sand racing at Southport, Weston Super-Mare and Hest Bank plus much more. Bert manufactured Matador and Toreador motorcycles in Preston, Lancashire from 1911 onwards and many of the photographs are from the family albums.

There is also a section on the Reverend Hodgkin, the Rector of Whittington (just up the road from Preston where Bert Houlding was an active member of the motorcycling fraternity), who was a keen photographer and motorcyclist at the turn of the century, showing some superb photographs of pioneer and veteran motorcycles in the area.

The book contains some great shots of bikes such as Matador, Singer, NSU, Toreador, JAP engined racers, Scotts, Harley Davidsons , Bradshaw engined bikes and much more.
